DECEMBER 2012

December 7, 2011 - Murphys Open House - Every year on the first Friday in December, Murphys celebrates the holiday season with a community Open House from 5 to 8 pm. Admission is free. Musicians and carolers fill the streets with holiday cheer. A favorite of locals, the annual event is an old-fashioned community celebration featuring holiday treats, and local wines hosted by Main Street merchants and the Murphys Business Association.  Santa arrives with the parade, which starts at 5:30, and stays for photos with the kids in the Native Sons Hall so get here early for a good spot.

Visitors and locals are reminded that Main Street will be closed from Murphys Grade Road to Big Trees Road from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and no parking will be allowed on Main Street during the event.  Parking is available at the Black Bart Playhouse on Algiers and surrounding neighborhoods but please be considerate of the homeowners in the area when selecting a parking place.
